The Leicestershire golf club has evolved rapidly over the last 6 months. Eclosion is when after a period of transformation within the chrysalis, the butterfly splits the casing and slowly emerges as a creature of natural beauty. As Spring moves to summer it feels that our club is following nature.
We have wide new tees on the First and Tenth. A tasteful new water fountain at the tenth allows refilling of water bottles reducing plastic around the course. The refurbished downstairs bar and enhanced patio is buzzing and not just with pollinators. The seniors’ section is proud to showcase our club and course in the many fixtures that we have.
We are advanced beyond just 18 holes. At The Leicestershire club, our senior section aligns with and supports the values and goals of our member management structure. We are the largest section within our Club.
We aim to have more fun both on and off the course. Besides 21 Interclub matches and senior competitions and knockouts, this year includes two exchange days. There are two “more than 9-holes” invitational mornings with golf relevant presentations for which members can bring a guest at a reduced rate.
We also have dedicated tee times for helping new senior members with a ‘buddy’ system, assisting with acquiring Handicaps and helping players return to golf after injury or illness.
We are agile and will respond to concerns. I am not really the seniors Captain; I am just a middleman in a very functional seniors section committee that helps make things happen.
